Filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s RRR is one of the most anticipated film of the year. The film made headlines ever since it was announced back in 2017. The period action drama film features actors Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in lead roles. This marks the first ever collaboration of the film-maker with these Bollywood actors, which he claimed to be an easy experience. In a recent interview, the film-maker confessed that both Bhatt and Devgn were very easy to work with.
“Working with stars like Ajay sir and Alia was easy for me. I knew Ajay sir as he had done the remake of my film Son Of Sardaar (2012). He was also gracious to unveil my film Makkhi (the Hindi version of Telugu blockbuster Eega). He does not even go to his caravan. He sits outside the shooting area, looking at me continuously. If I look at him, he would be like ‘do you want me sir’ and he would be on the sets,” Rajmouli said, adding that working with Alia was equally enriching.
Speaking of Bhatt, the film-maker said, “Alia kept buggering the direction department to get her lines so she can get her lines and diction right. I did not have any kind of difficulty in working with any of them.”
The film-maker also spoke about his grand collaboration. He said, “I stopped looking at actors as south or north, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or Kannada. I have even stopped dividing the audience in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam etc. I write the script and look at which actor has the capability or who will look best in this part.”
Rajamouli hasn’t just included the Bollywood actors for the first time, but also roped in Hollywood actors like Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson and Alison Doody for important roles.
The Baahubali director, however, mentioned that he doesn’t approach any actor with Baahubali as his visiting card, though he is very proud of his film. He said, he never uses Baahubali’s success to his advantage.
“I can’t deny the fact that I have Baahubali behind me, that helps me a lot. But I don’t go with the visiting card of ‘Baahubali’. I go with the visiting card of my script and my characterisation, and that’s what helps me. A film like RRR doesn’t happen because of my relationships with industry colleagues. When you have a fantastic script and when the actors see themselves playing those characters that are narrated to them, then you don’t need friendships and connections for them to work in your film,” said the ace film-maker.
Rajamouli’s film is all set to hit the theaters on January 7, just a day after Alia Bhaat’s Gangubai Kathiawadi’s release, which also features Ajay Devgn in an important role.
On November 1, the makers of the film had finally unveiled the first glimpse of RRR, which quickly gave a look of all the important characters from the film with a very dramatic background music, showing off its richness. The YouTube video by DVV Entertainment has gained over 8.2 million views in a day, while the video by Tseries has garnered over 5 million views.
