Theaters in Karnataka closed after actor Puneeth Rajkumar's death on Friday

In an unfortunate incident, Sandalwood superstar Puneeth Rajkumar passed away on Friday due to cardiac arrest. He was 46-years-old. Ever since the news broke, the actor’s fans flocked outside Vikram hospital, where he was admitted, and others rushed outside his residence in Sadashivanagar. In Vijayapura, fans have forced local theater owners to shut down their respective cinema halls.

According to reports, theaters in Mysuru have also been temporarily shut. A high alert has been declared in Karnataka owing to the actor’s sudden demise. Multiple reports suggest that the state government has also ordered to close theaters for security reasons.

After a long wait, the much-awaited film Bhajarangi 2, starring Puneeth Rajkumar’s brother Shivarajkumar had hit the screens today. The actor had even took to Twitter to wish the team, which happened to be his last tweet.

Reports also suggest that along with theaters, schools and colleges have also been shut until November 1. However, an official confirmation is yet to come. Local shops have been closed in many areas of Karnataka.

Karnataka chief minister Bommai told media, Puneeth complained of uneasiness while gymming today. He was shifted to hospital, but could not be saved. He was a youth icon and achieved a lot at a young age.
