2AM has returned with not one, but two title tunes, giving fans a double treat! The amazing four-piece ensemble published their fourth mini-album, ‘Ballad 21 F/W,’ accompanied with music videos for the two title singles, ‘Should’ve Known’ and ‘No Good in Goodbye’!
Bang Si Hyuk, the founder of HYBE LABELS, was in charge of the composition and lyrics for ‘Should’ve Known,’ while JYP’s J.Y. Park was in charge of the composition and lyrics for ‘No good in good bye.’
Junho of 2PM and actress Kim So Hyun, who has been in dramas such as Who Are You: School 2015, Radio Romance, Love Alarm, and most recently River Where The Moon: Rises, appears in the two music videos.
The song names and the twin title songs seem like two chapters from a lovers’ feud and subsequent reconciliation. ‘Should’ve Known’ is a song about the grief and desire that comes from the breakdown of a long-term relationship.
With rich melodies and tender lyrics, Kim So Hyun brilliantly captures the emotions of pain and heartbreak in this ballad single.
‘Should’ve Known’ starts up where ‘No Good in Goodbye’ left off! At the railway station, the two ex-lovers hug and reconcile, reminiscing the greatest moments of their romance.
‘No good in good bye’ captures the complex sensations of breakups and the process of falling out of love, as well as why saying goodbye is so difficult.
The lyrics emphasise the pain of the tangled nature of love and breakups, as depicted cinematically in these star-crossed title tracks, and the song is laden with further misery. It’s the band’s first album since 2014’s ‘Let’s Talk.’
